Unit II
|
The focus of this unit is the factors that serve as the foundation of U.S. political culture and how they manifest themselves in the United States today. What American citizens believe about their government, its leaders, and the political system and how these beliefs are formed, how they evolve, and how they are conveyed is a main component. In addition to understanding the origin of these beliefs, how they change or remain the same and the agents (families, schools, the media) that support them are investigated. The kinds of political activities citizens engage in and the reasons for them are emphasized. Further, this unit calls into focus how citizens can greatly differ in their beliefs and levels of political activity and the various factors that influence them.
